Pete Hise is the Founding and Lead Pastor of Quest Community Church in Lexington, Kentucky. He gave his life to Christ on November 12, 1982 and has been completely transformed by the love of God. As a featured speaker at the Ichthus Festival, Christian & Missionary Alliance General Council, and Asbury Theological Seminary, Pete most relishes speaking to and challenging the local church.

Pete loves getting to hang out with his boys Corey and Carson – watching Corey play football and listening to Carson rap the latest Kirk Franklin and tobyMac tunes. He also enjoys watching the Cowboys play and date nights with his wife, Jacki.

In the early 1990s, Pete took a job at a local Applebee’s restaurant, with a desire to build relationships with unchurched people. A group of Applebee’s employees soon began meeting with Pete for a Bible study, and a number of them made life-changing decisions to follow Jesus. Pete then served on staff for First Alliance Church where he gained unique and invaluable experience creating the community directory and leading worship. Pete attended a conference at Willow Creek Community Church in 1996, where God instilled a vision of a church designed for people who don’t like church. Beginning in March 1997, a Saturday night service called Quest began at First Alliance. On May 2, 1999, Pete started Quest with the original launch team. Since then, Quest has seen over 11,000 people cross from death to life and has been named the 44th Fastest-Growing Church in the U.S. with over 3,500 in attendance.

The top three people who have influenced Pete are Keith Green, who lived the life of a Christian barbarian & helped Pete see that he could do the same, Bill Hybels, whose contagious love for the local church ambushed Pete’s heart & birthed the same love in him, and the Apostle Paul, who lived only to make sure others knew Jesus died out of love for them.

Pete’s dynamic teaching, compelling leadership, and authentic relational evangelism have shaped the heartbeat and DNA of Quest – transforming unconvinced people into wholehearted followers of Jesus. 
His favorite part about his job is that he gets to connect people to God by communicating a crystal clear picture of who Jesus really is and then watching as their lives and hearts are turned upside down living in the love of Christ!
