The Mat Chili Cook-Off
This Friday, January 27 is the 2012 kick-off for the Mat! The Mat is a ministry designed to provide a place where freedom and recovery become a reality through community and support found in issue-specific support groups. As Pastor Pete mentioned on Vision Weekend, we are launching new groups and they begin this Friday! For a full list of groups, click here. But that’s not all– this Friday at 6pm, bring a pot of chili or $4 to be apart of the the annual Chili Cook-Off! Stick around for an amazing night full of stories of men and women who have found freedom and recovery.

Engage: A Gathering for Women
Last Fall, we launched Engage: A Gathering for Women to Encounter God through Bible Study. Perhaps you heard from one of the 100+ attendees of the many ways Jesus showed up in very personal ways while studying His word together. This is your special invitation to register online for the next study entitled Colossians: A Secret Revealed – Christ in You. This is a 7 week study that will begin next week, Thursday, February 2, from 9:30-11:30am. Childcare is available for a nominal fee. This study is open to anyone in our city! So bring a neighbor, a friend, co-worker or family member and come ready to develop greater intimacy with the One who loves you and made you for His purposes through the study of His Word! Click here to register!

Dear Friends,

Happy New Year! Welcome to 2012 and a year of living Beyond Belief! Vision Weekend was an amazing start and first glimpse of the rich plans God has for us this year. Pastor Pete shared 1 Corinthians 2:9 “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love Him.” I hope this verse gets you so excited in anticipation for the miracles to come. Pastor announced that 1,052 people came to Christ at Quest and 3,500 people came to Christ in India during 2011 and that we would be hiring additional pastors there this year. This is possible because of your generous giving to Imagine2!

We also heard that the conclusion of imagine2 will be on May 20th. In less than four months, we will celebrate all that God has done in us during this campaign. But as you saw in the program, we are $5,556,120 short of our goal of $12,603,674. There’s no doubt about it, we have a long way to go in a short amount of time. We are believing God to do a miracle– beyond belief!

The Anderson’s Story 

We have seen God do so many miraculous things since He brought us here to Quest. Through imagine2, Jesus has been breaking our hearts for those that don’t know Him and I have found myself with new bold prayers and opportunities to see God do the impossible…

This past year, I heard Jesus whisper that 2011 would be the year I had to step out in faith for my Grandpa. Shortly afterwards I found out that he was diagnosed with cancer. With my Grandpa living 5 states away I started begging Jesus to prompt me at the right time to go talk to him about where he stood with Jesus. As we grappled with the finality of our time on earth during the 30 Days to Live series, I knew Jesus was saying “now!” With my Grandpa’s health rapidly declining, I bought a last minute plane ticket to Texas.

I had less than 48 hours to spend with him. Have you ever prayed for God to prepare the heart of someone to be ready to receive Jesus? I’ve never experienced God more directly answer that prayer than the time I had with my Grandpa in those 2 days– turns out, that was his last window of good health, the trip was miraculously timed. We talked for hours and finally I got to ask “Grandpa, you are about to see Jesus soon… wouldn’t you like to know without a doubt that you have given everything to Jesus and received Him before you die?” In the humblest moment I have ever experienced with my Grandpa he said “yes!” and asked if I would lead him in a prayer to do just that! I got to lead my Grandpa to Jesus and it wasn’t long after that trip that my Grandpa went to heaven to see Jesus face to face.

I’ll never forget that miracle and the simple “thank you” that my Grandpa gave me after we finished praying and I looked up to see tears streaking down his face. God really can make a way for the people we love and He wants to use us to do it! As Danielle and I near the finish line for our imagine2 commitment, my Grandpa’s story is a reminder to me of the reason why we sacrifice and that God really does want to do the impossible through us if we take the time to listen to Him and respond to what He puts on our heart.
